Maui Fiberglass was formed in 1991. We began like many companies in the garage trying to make better toys. After years of fabricating everything from speedskiing helmets to 10,000 gallon water tanks, we decided to focus on canoes and kayaks.

With the recent growth of the sport, we quickly realized that the sport would soon outgrow our capabilities on Maui. We have been working ever since to secure a strong manufacturing base overseas. In 1997 we began production overseas. After a rocky first attempts, we have since found good companies. We have formed strong relationships with a large number of these companies.

Along with the move to overseas production came a move to strengthen our R&D efforts. Our role has changed from building products to developing them. The language of product development is CAD, and we use it in everything we do.

Our newest challenge is to develop our marketing and distribution. Our sport has grown well beyond Hawaii and California, and we hope to serve the growing world market.
